General Introduction（学院概况）

The predecessor of the College of River and Ocean Engineering is the Department of Waterway and Harbor Engineering which was founded in 1960. The College of River and Ocean Engineering has the professor evaluation right of Water Conservancy Engineering, the center for post-doctoral studies, and the right to grant the Ph.D. degree of Water Conservancy Engineering and the Master Degree of Environmental Science and Engineering.

It also has disciplines of geotechnical engineering and municipal engineering. Currently, the College of River and Ocean Engineering has five bachelor degree majors, including Harbor, Waterway and Coastal Engineering, Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering, Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering, Geological Engineering, and Environmental Engineering.

The College has national high quality sharing curriculum, national level bilingual course, and national undergraduate course. It has eight national and provincial education and scientific research platform from Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education Ministry of Communications, including National Engineering Research Center for Inland Waterway Regulation.

It also has National Personnel Training Center, Ministry of Communications Innovation Personnel Training Center, National Engineering Education Center, Chongqing College Student Outside School Practice Education Center and 50 Out of School Practice Training Case, and Cooperative training center for graduate student. The College could provide basic guarantee for advanced personnel training, science and technology innovation, and social service.

The college paid attention to the training of students' ability and quality. The graduates have high comprehensive quality, good awareness of innovation and strong ability of sustainable development. The initial employment rate of the undergraduate has always remained above 90%. Over the past fifty years, the college has nearly 10000 graduates, including undergraduate, master and doctoral graduates. A large number of alumni have become well-known scholars, technology backbone, and enterprise leaders. The education quality are widely praised by the society.

History（历史沿革）

²The predecessorof the College of River and Ocean Engineeringisthe Waterway and Harbor Engineering Faculty founded in 1960.

²In 1961, some teachers of the Department of Water Conservancy of Chengdu Institute of Technology were transferred to the Waterway and Harbor Engineering Faculty

²In 1963, the Department of Hydraulic Engineering of Wuhan Institute of water transport engineering merged to the Waterway and Harbor Engineering Faculty of Chongqing Jiaotong College.

²1972 -1978 merged into the Chongqing Institute of Architectural Engineering

²In 1978, the Waterway and Harbor Engineering Faculty of Chongqing Jiaotong College was restored.

²In 1997, it was renamed to the River and Ocean Construction Engineering Faculty.

²The College of River and Ocean Engineering was established in 2003
