1. Introduction
Water resources and hydropower engineering is the engineering science that regulates and controls hydropower resources with engineering or non-engineering measures based on the study of the natural characteristics of the water. Water resources and hydropower engineering program focuses on training high-level engineering and technical personnel who can be engaged in large and medium-sized water conservancy and hydropower and buildings (including the dam, powerhouse of hydropower station, the gate and into the water, diversion and discharge buildings), and industrial water construction planning, design construction, management and scientific research of, learning and research directions include hydrological water resources, water environment, hydraulic structure, hydraulic and fluid dynamics, engineering, management and, the development trend is the intercrossing and syncretizing with the emerging information technology, reliability theory, management science and other disciplines.
2. Training Objectives
The program cultivates senior engineering and technical personnel who can adapt to the needs of the development of water conservancy and hydroelectric construction, with innovative and pioneering spirit, comprehensively and systematically master the basic theory and professional knowledge of water conservancy and hydropower engineering planning, design, construction, and management, with the ability of comprehensively using the knowledge to solve practical engineering problems. Graduates can be engaged in planning, design and scientific research in the field of water conservancy and hydropower resources development, large-scale water conservancy and hydropower project survey, design, construction, management and so on.
3. Training Requirements
The students mainly study the basic theory and basic knowledge required for the construction of water conservancy and hydropower engineering, mathematics, mechanics and building structure, to enable students to obtain basic training in the necessary engineering design method and construction management and scientific research methods, have the basic ability of water conservancy and hydropower engineering investigation, planning, design, construction, scientific research and management.
4. Knowledge and Ability
1)With solid foundation of natural science, a good foundation for the humanities and social sciences;
2)Master the basic theories, basic knowledge of engineering mechanics, fluid mechanics, rock and soil mechanics, engineering geology, engineering survey, engineering hydrology, river dynamics;
3)Master the basic theory, knowledge and skills of engineering structure design;
4)Master the survey, planning, design, construction and management technology of large and medium-sized water conservancy and hydropower project;
5)With strong computer application ability;
6)With operation skills of mapping, computation and basic process required by water conservancy and hydropower engineering.

Higher mathematics, computer programming, engineering drawing (CAD), college physics, mechanics, engineering materials, mechanics of materials, surveying, hydraulics, structural mechanics, soil mechanics, steel structure, hydraulic structures, engineering hydrology, water resources planning and utilization, reinforced concrete structure, engineering economy, river dynamics, sediment engineering, hydropower station construction and so on.
6. Practical Teaching
Curriculum practice, program practice, curriculum design and graduation design, the general arrangement of each course design is 1-2 weeks; the general arrangement of graduation design is 12-13 weeks.

Graduates can be engaged in the research, planning, design, construction and management of water conservancy and civil engineering fields.
